Home and Garden Design

After being in a property for several years, a lot of people decide that they want a new garden design but they are often stuck as to how to start. There are a number of considerations, the most crucial one is of your taste. Exactly what do you like?

Just because it is a small garden design, it doesn't have to be overrun with grass, plants, trees and flowers should you don’t want it to be. Some may like the low maintenance benefits afforded by wood decking, gravel, wood chips, tile or concrete.

Remember, it's your garden so you can do to it what you would like.

The best way to get inspiration for your house garden design is to go and find out what else is out there that can take your fancy. You can look anywhere, your pals houses, public gardens, a patch of grass in the center of a city can provide you with a wealth of ideas.

After you have an idea as to the style of garden you need, you need to consider the size of a garden and plan accordingly. Should you only have a small working area then you definitely do not want to go overboard with planting. Your small garden could quickly become cluttered and feel claustrophobic. For those who have a small garden you should utilise layers to produce a sense of depth and airy colour schemes.

If you're lucky enough to have a large space as the canvas then you can really go to town together with your designs. Pretty much anything goes and it is left entirely up to your likes.

Don’t just jump in and buy plants, flowers or another style of garden until you have an agenda drawn out on paper, this should be a to scale representation of the garden with everything in place. It's much easier (and cheaper) to create changes on paper than it is to complete then once you are putting a garden together.

Once you have a plan in writing that you are happy with, then you can set to town to purchase everything you will need. Don’t forget the tools!
